How good is the camera repair service?
Maybe you also know the feeling, if your camera is defective. It’s not a nice feeling to know that you can not take pictures with this camera at the moment. For amateur photographers who have only a single camera, the defect is even worse than for the professional, the best case, spare cameras ready. On a wedding reportage several years ago, I noticed a Canon EOS SLR. The camera was in continuous firing condition and only removing the battery could prevent it from taking further pictures. Later it turned out that the lock had to be replaced. As a professional I had, as always, two cameras and could pack away the defective camera without worries. The next day I brought the EOS mirror reflex to the Canon service in Willich. There I learned for the first time what a good repair service means because here all the woes of various cameras have been treated cheaply, quickly and successfully.
As a professional I know after some further repairs of my SLR cameras by Canon, that the Canon service works outstandingly. This would be the question already answered, how good the Canon repair service actually is. I do not let anything come to this service. I have tested the work both as an amateur, as well as a CPS member (Canon professional service for professionals). In my experience, this repair service is different only in the processing time; Professional photographers recognized by the market leader get their camera back faster.
How good is the Fujifilm repair service?
Anyone who reads attentively at itpakistan.org knows that since December 2016 I am also in possession of a Fujifilm X-T2. This camera had a smudge on the sensor in September. After being professionally cleaned up, he reappeared. On closer inspection with a sensor loupe, I noticed that something seemed to be broken in the mechanical shutter. It looked to me as if a piece of the shutter was damaged and there was the cause of the drop on the sensor.
Since the camera still had warranty, I contacted the Fujifilm repair service, where I sent a photo by e-mail. The very friendly lady in the repair service recommended sending me the camera in a very prompt email. Also a query about the whereabouts of the camera a few days later, was answered very friendly. It turned out that the repair time reached a few days into my vacation. Immediately I was offered a rental camera for a small fee.

So I was still able to enjoy a Fujifilm X-Pro2 and was able to continue taking pictures while on vacation with Fujifilm. Even a return label was attached to this rental camera! After my vacation, the repaired X-T2 came to my house punctually. The sensor had been replaced, presumably with the complete unit of the mechanical shutter. I immediately returned the rental camera and I was even confirmed the entrance.
The repair was done very quickly and extremely friendly. I’ve been using the camera for weeks now and it works just fine. Ie. Also the Fujifilm repair was professional. The fact that the service by phone and e-mail also had more time to deal with my questions and vacation plans and was so friendly and warm, is a special honor for the company.
I personally think that a camera can only ever be as good as the manufacturer’s service. Of course, not everyone can benefit from having a repair service. But if it has to be, they are in good hands after my experience at Canon and Fujifilm.
